Martina Golden

Postdoctoral Fellow

I grew up in Minnesota and earned dual bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and French from the University of St. Thomas. In 2025, I received my PhD in Chemistry from Emory University. My dissertation research was highly interdisciplinary, combining organic synthesis and microbiology. It focused on a natural product that specifically inhibits the growth of the human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. As a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Erin Carlson's lab, I am investigating the mechanism by which novel polymeric scaffolds internalize molecules into gram-negative bacteria. My goal is to become a professor at a primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution, where I can teach the next generation of scientists both in the classroom and the research laboratory.
